Parasailing in Newfoundland? Why not? This is still a common reaction when locals hear that parasailing is done here. Located just five minutes past Sunshine Park on Thorburn Rd in St. Philips you can experience parasailing for yourself. Make a day of it, hang out, have a fire on the beach and have some fish 'n chips at the take out near the wharf.
Upon boarding the parasail boat at St. Philip's wharf, and moments after leaving the dock, you feel dazzled to see a massive 37 foot multi-colored parachute inflate right before your eyes.
The anticipation builds as the first two passengers get harnessed to the parachute, while sitting on the back deck of the boat with cameras in hand. The adrenaline builds as the boat picks up speed and within seconds your lifted from the deck of the boat, then before you know it you're airborne, lifting away from the boat with the feeling of disbelief as you see the boat get smaller and the sounds around you get quieter.
The view is breath-taking at 600 feet, as you look down at St. Philip's, Bell Island and of course, a scattered whale. You’ll be flying higher than the seagulls.
